New Braunfels-based The Scooter Store cut over 200 jobs this week. Local news reports covered the layoffs, which apparently came without any warning for many.
In a PR statement Tuesday, the company said it terminated 220 people employed in all parts of its business. The cuts represent slightly less the 10 percent of The Scooter Store's workforce, which now numbers about 2,100.
The company indicates that the layoffs are at least partially connected to changes in medicare rules that affect ScooterStore's funding model.
